▪ Located on the northeastern point of Komodo Island, home to the famous man-eating Komodo dragons, the Pink Beach Komodo Island can only be accessed by boat from the nearest town of Labuan Bajo.⁣

Similar to other pink sand beaches, the sand gets its beautiful pink tint from thousands of pieces of broken red coral, shells, and calcium carbonate left behind by tiny marine creatures, with red outer casings, known as foraminifera. The broken fragments all combined with the fine, white sand to produce a unique cotton-candy colored beach. In fact, the red coral is the reason locals call this beach pantai merah (red beach).⁣
